In Sanskrit the word for breath is the same as the word for life; "Prana". Yogis, medical doctors, healers and psychologists agree that the breath is an important link between our body, mind, and spirit, and that simple breathing techniques can significantly help reduce the effects of chronic stress, anxiety, and depression.
Regular practising of "Pranayama", or yogic breath control, can calm the mind, boost the immune system, improve concentration, lower blood pressure, and benefit a wide range of mental, emotional, and physical ailments. This cool website provides free information and instructions on "Basic" and "Advanced" breathing techniques, including "Ujjayi Breath", "Alternate Nostril Breath", and "Abdominal Breath".

Ever wondered how long you have got to go in this life? Just input a little bit of data into this site and it will do the maths and work out statistically where, when and how you will finally kick the bucket!
Mine was 6th November 2044 - this may be a little optimistic given my current lifestyle...

The Guantanamo Testimonials Project is a site dedicated to assessing the effects of the U.S. war on terror on human rights in the Americas.
"The goals of this project are to gather testimonies of prisoner abuse in Guantánamo, to organize them in meaningful ways, to make them widely available online, and to memorialize them there in perpetuity."
Read the testimonies of the prisoners themselves, lawyers, interrogators, physicians, chaplains and many other different individuals associated with the Guantanamo incarcerations.

As many folks are feeling fairly spiritual around this time of the year I thought it suitable to include this page today.
Tilt your head to the left when you look at it.
I'm going to be taking a break from this blog for a couple of days now so see you back here on Monday!

"A car accident can be one of the most horrifying experiences in a person’s life. They are sometimes inevitable and the moments before they happen with the feeling of helplessness can be very terrifying. However, some of them are just a one in a million freak accident, to the point where they seem staged. Here are ten of the weirdest car accidents you will ever see."
and then there's another 10...(see both links above)

This is "a collection of over 9,000 obscure English words. Though the definition of an "English" word might seem to be straightforward, it is not. There exist so many adopted, derivative, archaic or abandoned words in what we loosely define as the "English Language", that a clear-cut definition seems impossible. For the purposes of this project though, words are included that may stretch any basic definitions. Particular attention has been paid to archaic words, as they tend to be more evocative - as if their very age lends additional meaning or overtones."

You might find this site handy for this...

-the first recorded reference to cricket dates back to 1272?
-or that Edison tried to invent a gun-powder powered engine for a helicopter . . .he blew up his lab, and decided to stop work on that project?

Enter your age and see what other people managed to accomplish when they were your age.
At my age - "Physicist Georg Simon Ohm discovered Ohm's Law." and "Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the moon."
and there's more.

Neil Armstrong actually did it a few weeks before I was born.
