Music of Nature

Listen to the sounds of insects of various kinds. Must admit I've never seen any of these when out and about so don't think these are Scottish insects..

Groupie Gossip

http://www.groupiedirt.com/

Reviews from the groupie grapevine on the stars' sexual prowess. All the gossip - makes quite an interesting read..

Steven Tyler from Aerosmith is considered a sexual god...I wouldn't get into bed with him though - he hasn't got the right kind of tackle for me :)

A Letter from Sean Connery to Steve Jobs

|
http://snipurl.com/25fl87a

Seems the late Steve was trying to recruit Connery for his advertisement campaign back in 1998.

This is the reply that Sean wrote him - looks like a bad judgement call on Connery's part what with the way Apple's stocks and share prices went..

YouTube Picks #191 - Bottle Cap Blues

|
We've all probably been in the situation where we've got a nice cold one but no bottle opener to get at the goodness inside right? Here's some suggestions - hats off to the guy who manages it with a slice of pizza though!

BateFlix

"BateFlix is a compilation of the best nudity found on Netflix."

This film was made in 1944 so I'm guessing that this one is probably SFW..

Drinkify

|
http://www.drinkify.org/

Enter the band that you are listening to on your sound system and this site will suggest a suitable drink to imbibe..

When I put in Hawkwind it suggested 1 bottle 2 Buck Chuck - I've never heard of that - don't think they stock it at the local Morrissons..

Bizarre Unfortunate Birth Defects

|
http://listverse.com/2010/09/08/top-10-bizarre-birth-defects/

These pictures make me want to cry both for the children and their parents - it just goes to show that the majority of us are so lucky just to be born 'normal'...

If these aren't enough for you there's more here.

Craniopagus parasiticus is a condition in which a child is born with a parasitic extra head from their unborn twin

Karmasheetra

http://www.karmasheetra.com/

Billed as "The new bedroom phenomena". "Through its unique design, the Karmasheetra guides its owner to try those naughty positions that you've always wanted to.
No more awkward moments where you're not quite sure where to put those hands and feet"

"Apparently, we -- a collective of food-eating-ketchup-using hooligans -- have been consuming ketchup all wrong.

If you've ever poured ketchup into those tiny paper cup containers and brought them back to your table for fry dunking and burger smearing, you might be a victim of ketchup ignorance as well.

Did you know that these ketchup containers are built to fan out, and are made to allow for more dunk square-footage?

As it stands, your fries probably fit pretty snugly, but imagine wanting to dip your burger into that tiny cup -- not happening."

Word Fun

http://thinkzone.wlonk.com/WordFun/WordFun.htm

I used to be a TEFL teacher so I like this sort of thing. There's anagrams, palindromes, pangrams and more. There's more to this site than this though - check out the index page of Keith's Think Zone.

"Fun and interesting miscellany for school kids of all ages. (Teachers and other adults are also permitted.)"

"There are close to 400,000 galaxies in the animation, with images of the actual galaxies in these positions (or in some cases their near cousins in type) derived from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7."

Near Death Experience Accounts

|
http://snipurl.com/25ay7mt

You have to read these to believe them -- all of the accounts are amazing - there's a lot of evidence of an after-life here.

Maybe our brief life on Earth is just like going to school in preparation for the real thing - whatever that is - apparently this is what 'visitors' have told certain abductees as well - or maybe different people go onto different 'lives' altogether as Buddhism and other religions say.

One thing's for sure we won't know until the Reaper visits..

There's some real clangers in here - and all the old classics - all in different categories.

The London Hammer - the rock encasing the hammer has been dated back 400 MILLION years - the hammer itself is 500! WTF?

Speed Reading

|
This site will tell you how fast you can read in words per minute and then help you improve your speed by allowing to adjust the speeds up and down.

Now I'm an avid book fan and can read pretty fast.  I tried the 500wpm setting and I could read it - apparently your average Joe Bloggs reads at about 200wpm - I'm not trying to show off or anything but my mum taught me to read pre-nursery school and always took me to the library every week when I was a kid and these days I've always got a book on the go...anyway I diverse..just click the link above or the picture and work out how fast you can read...

Food is one of the most basic requirements for life. There are people who do not have food to eat. If you find yourself getting annoyed cos your TV is on the blink or something like that then spare a thought for those that are literally dying for want of a bit of food...

Tracking your Movements Online

|
http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp

"Some of the ads you receive on Web pages are customized based on predictions about your interests generated from your visits over time and across different Web sites. This type of ad customization -- sometimes called "online behavioral" or "interest-based" advertising -- is enabled through your computer browser and browser cookies. Such online advertising helps support the free content, products and services you get online."

You can check your own browser and see what companies are following your browsing via a cookie search - there were 57 for me and this is a relatively new OS build (~6 weeks maybe) - and then you can opt out of them all or chosen ones if you like..
